The restaurant is gone. 💔
The Greyhound buses stopped running long ago.
The building came down.
But the sign?
The sign refused to leave. 💥
Standing tall on lower Broadway in Saratoga Springs — faded red, weathered by decades of Upstate New York winters, those magnificent yellow marquee lights still reaching toward the sky — this extraordinary old RESTAURANT sign is the last witness to a piece of Saratoga history that most people have already forgotten. 🏛️✨
This was not just a restaurant.
It was a landmark. A meeting place. The kind of place where you grabbed a hot meal before catching your Greyhound bus out of town — or where you walked in off Broadway and felt immediately at home. ☕🚌💛
Generations of Saratoga Springs residents walked through those doors. Sat in those booths. Said hello and goodbye and everything in between.
And now the building is gone.
But Dennis Spittler was there — on a perfect early spring day, bare trees reaching toward a dramatic blue sky — and he captured this magnificent survivor in all its faded, weathered, heartbreaking glory. 📸💥
That towering red sign. That glorious crescent arrow still pointing the way. That patina of time and memory and a city that keeps moving forward even when it leaves pieces of itself behind.
Some signs are just signs.
This one is a story. 💔🏛️✨
