About EL Photography

Hello! I'm Dennis Spittler, the photographer behind EL Photography.

I live in Upstate New York, where I've spent my entire life surrounded by the natural beauty of changing seasons. Two years ago, after 28 years with the same company, my job unexpectedly ended. During those uncertain months that followed, my wife—my best friend and soulmate—encouraged me to pursue my lifelong passion for photography. She told me to get off the couch and chase my dreams. So I did.

I started going out every day, photographing anything and everything that caught my eye. I'd bring those images home and work tirelessly to perfect them, because I live for perfection. What began as a way to fill my days became my calling.

My Photography Journey

Living in Upstate New York is a blessing. We experience all four seasons in their full glory, and each one offers unique beauty. Fall is my favorite—when the leaves turn brilliant colors and the landscape transforms into something magical.

My camera has taken me to incredible places: the crystal-clear waters of Bonaire near Aruba, the majestic wildlife of Yellowstone National Park, the stunning Adirondack Mountains around Lake George, the powerful Niagara Falls from the Canadian side, and the vibrant streets of Montreal. This fall, I'm heading to Alaska on a cruise, and I can hardly wait to capture the jaw-dropping beauty that awaits.

The Art of the Perfect Shot

Being a wildlife photographer requires patience—lots of it. I can sit for hours without seeing what I came for, but when I finally capture that perfect shot, it brings such happiness to my soul. That's what I want to share with the world.

I've taken thousands of photos, each with its own story. What makes my photography unique is not just the diverse seasons we experience here in New York, but my dedication to perfection. I only share work that meets my highest standards. There are countless all-nighters spent tweaking images, adjusting colors, and perfecting every detail—work that happens behind the scenes but shows in every print.

When I lost my job, I was worried about what came next. But as they say, when one door closes, another opens. Photography didn't just fill a gap—it became my purpose.
